Here we go again!

Wow, I can't believe I'm doing this again.  Let's just see how it goes this time around.  In a world where everything we ever post online can and will be held against us, I feel it stifles expression as much as it encourages it. That's burned me in the past, and probably will again.  But, I think freedom of expression is worth fighting for only if it's worth using.

I'm not sure if what I write is going to always cut the mustard, hence the title of the blog, Cutting Mustard.  I'm my own worst critic, especially of my writing, so getting past my own internal editor is often the biggest hurdle in getting thoughts from my head into words in print.

What will you see here?  Well, I'm an eclectic person.  I'm socially liberal, but fiscally conservative in my political views -- so I'm completely unelectable in today's America.  I have a background in military, journalism and analytics.  I love games and competition, so you'll often catch me playing softball when I can from spring through fall, and I'm also a fan of fantasy sports, play Magic: The Gathering, and somehow find time to play more computer games than a person of my age probably should.  Maybe most importantly, I'm a geek.  I love computers, tech and technology.  Finally, I have the idea that everyone should be working on 'The Great American Novel' in their lifetime, and I have the framework for mine ... now I just need to get it done.

So, if you're reading this -- I hope what I'm writing is worth your time.  I'm not sure what my topic du jour will be today, but if it doesn't cut the mustard, I won't hit the key to post it.  Welcome to Cutting Mustard!
